Where to Eat Near Glendale and North Phoenix

Five restaurants we send guests to, from barbecue ten minutes away to a mountaintop dining room worth the drive.

Glendale sits on the west side of the valley, which means good food close by and a wider choice a short drive east. Five we recommend, and what each is for.

Bobby-Q

Barbecue and steaks, generous and unfussy, and the easiest recommendation we make. Good with a group and good with children. Expect a wait at peak times.

Different Pointe of View

On the mountainside at the Hilton Tapatio Cliffs, with the valley laid out below. This is the special-occasion dinner — book ahead, ask for a table near the window, and go at sunset rather than after dark.

Pappadeaux Seafood Kitchen

Cajun seafood, large portions, lively room. Reliable for a group that wants something other than Southwestern.

Alzohour

Middle Eastern, family-run, and the sort of place that rewards ordering several things to share. Good value and a genuine change of pace.

Cafe Chenar

Small and well kept, worth knowing about for a quieter meal when you do not want a crowd.

Closer to the house

  • Historic Downtown Glendale is about 5 miles — antique shops, coffee and a slower afternoon
  • Westgate Entertainment District is about 9 miles and full of restaurants and bars, walkable once parked
  • The kitchen at the house is fully equipped, and the pool is heated year round if y'all would rather stay in
